CAMPERMATE
A map-based solution to find all those hidden (and not so hidden) camping spots. Widely used so the info in the app is usually very up-to-date.
Has a very useful filter to help you search for everything from filming locations to public toilets
PROS:
A ton of contributors means lots of useful reviews
Easy to use
Will notify you if you're close to somewhere that has a special offer
CONS:
App is monetised so some campgrounds are only visible when you zoom right in
Possibly an overwhelming amount of info and features for the less tech-savvy folk
WIKICAMPS NZ
Yet another map-based app to help you locate freedom camping spots, campsites, toilets and much more. Contains some information that the other 2 above don't.
PROS:
Easy to use
Allows you download content prior in case you run out of data or have poor signal
CONS:
Costs $4 on iOS
RANKERS CAMPING NZ
Another map-based solution to finding those hidden gems. Rankers has improved its functionality over the last few updates. And now includes local walks, tours etc
PROS :
Clean, easy to use interface
Ratings can be seen without having to click into the listing
Includes info on local walks
CONS:
Not as much user info as Campermate
GASPY
A fantastic app that allows you to find the cheapest gas/diesel/petrol prices around the country.... a must have....
